Sofia Margarita Vergara (Spanish:, born July 10, 1972) is a Colombian-American actor TV producer, presenter and model. Vergara was the highest-paid actor on American television between 2013 between 2013 and 2020. Vergara rose in prominence when she hosted two programs on Univision's Spanish-language television network in the early 1990s. Chasing Papi (2003) was her first big acting performance in English. The following year, she appeared in Four Brothers (2005) and Tyler Perry's comedies Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009), receiving an ALMA Award nomination for the later. She made her debut as Gloria Delgado–Pritchett on ABC's comedy series Modern Family in 2009. In the role she was honored with four Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards. Vergara also voiced roles in animated films Happy Feet Two (2011). Escape from Planet Earth (2013). and The Emoji Movie (2018). Vergara was also a highest-paid Hollywood actress in 2020 [citation required]. Vergara is America's Got Talent judge since 2020. Vergara was born into an Roman Catholic family in Barranquilla. Vergara's mom Margarita Vergara Devergara was a homemaker, while her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo worked as an animal rancher in the meat industry. Her nickname was "Toti" by her siblings and numerous cousins. Vergara studied three years of dental school at the National University of Colombia. However, she decided to quit two semesters earlier to explore opportunities in show business and modeling.
