Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn (Illinois) and spent most of her childhood living in Chicago. Amy resided in GlenEllyn Illinois, right up to the time she graduated from junior college. There, her family also resided in the Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb) taught at American School. Amy is the sister Betsy, Lori, and brother Joe. Amy has travelled all over Europe with her family as well as on her own. Her parents were teachers so they had the opportunity to spend their summers together camping and exploring all across the United States. They've camped in every American state with the exception of Alaska. Amy went to Rwanda to aid in efforts to help after the 1994 war. In the beginning, Amy showed artistic talent acting in school productions and winning contests to write. She was a talented athlete during high school, and was a participant in the first ever 3200 meter relay in Illinois girls track. Following an injury, she was able to return to theater and play many roles, including Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and Wallace Shawn's film "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy was a student at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois where she earned her in cum laude. She graduated with the degree of B.A. East Asian history with a particular focus on Theater. Following graduation, she relocated to Chicago where she pursued studies in Improv at the Improv Olympics and Acting at The Actor's Center. Shortly after graduation, she took a contract job as an actress on the soap drama Another World (1964). The actress has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of "Outstanding Supporting Actress in an Daytime Drama Series". The most memorable of her roles include of strong women, such as Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone in Falcone (2000), Katie Owen alongside Tom Berenger in Peacemakers (2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods. Carlson currently lives in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), as well as being the owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy continues to pursue her passions on film and writing.
