Melanie Jayne Lynskey

Melanie Jayne Lynskey was born on May 16, 1977, in New Zealand. She is known for her unique, soft-spoken and headstrong roles. She is primarily involved in independent films. Her awards include a New Zealand Film Award, a Hollywood Film Award and a Sundance Special Jury Award, along with Gotham Award, Golden Nymph Award Critics' Choice Award and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Her film debut was the teenage murderer in Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures (1994). After moving to the United States, she built an acting career by playing supporting roles in various small- and big-budget films, such as Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But I'm a Cheerleader (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Abandon, Sweet Home Alabama (both 2002) Shattered Glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006), Away We Go, Up in the Air, The Informant!, Leaves of Grass (all 2009), Win Win (2011) as well as Seeking A Friend to the end of the World, The Perks of Being a Wallflower (both 2012) and They Came Together (2014) and Don't Turn Your Head Up (2021). Lynskey received a nomination for the Gotham Award as Breakthrough Performer and received critical acclaim for her portrayal of an unhappy divorcee in The Goodbye I Must be Going (2012). This was an important moment in her career. She has been a prominent figure within the American independent film industry due to her subsequent performances in Happy Christmas. We'll Never Have Paris. Goodbye To All That (all 2014), The Intervention. Rainbow Time. Little Boxes. I'm Not at Home in This World. And Then I go. Lady of the Manor. (2021). Lynskey's character of Rose in CBS The sitcom Two and a Half Men (1903-2015) brought her recognition. From 2015 until 2016, she appeared as Michelle Pierson on the HBO series Togetherness, for which she was nominated for the 2015 Critics Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress.
