Daniel Hernandez, born May 8th, 1996, is an American rapper from the United States. He's also referred to as Tekashi69 and 6ix9ine (pronounced "six-nine") His music is renowned for his raunchy style of rappers. His controversial public image is characterized by his distinctive hair color, tattoos, legal issues as well as well-publicized celebrity fights. Hernandez was initially known for his first single "Gummo" that was an unexpected success. The mixtape Day69 (2018) was released by Hernandez. It contained three singles "Kooda", Keke, and "Gotti" and all charted on Billboard's Top 100. The album he released was Dummy Boy (2018)'s single "Fefe" which featured Nicki Minaj, Murda Beatz and Murda Beatz, climbed to number three on the Hot 100. Despite the negative reaction, Dummy Boy was made platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Hernandez admitted guilt in the year 2015 to the charge of felony of involving a child in sexual activity. He was sentenced to four year suspension and 1,000 hours of community service. Hernandez was also accused of racketeering, drugs and weapons in the year 2018. He was sentenced to up to 47 years in prison and admitted guilt in February of 2019 to nine counts, including conspiracy to commit murder and burglary with a weapon. Hernandez was a witness at the trial and sentenced to two years of prison. Hernandez was released earlier during the COVID-19 pandemic in early April 2020 due to his asthma-related health condition. In the remainder of his sentence, he was put under house arrest before being released in the month of August 2020. The single "Gooba" was released after he was got out of prison, reached third place in the US. "Trollz", the third album he has collaborated with was a top-ranked single in the US. The album he released, TattleTales 2020 (2020) was released at number four on the US Billboard 200. Hernandez was widely criticized for his part in the Nine Trey Gangsters case as an expert witness, and was excluded from the hip-hop scene. Hernandez was effectively banned by the major streaming platforms as well as radio stations, despite a small commercial success after his release from jail.
